We are very pleased to welcome Momentum back to Ham Parade this month. They are a Kingston-based charity supporting families in Surrey and South-West London whose children have cancer or a life-limiting condition.
DECEMBER 2019: Cassel Hospital
The Cassel provides national specialist assessment and treatment services for adults, young people and families with intractable personality and family problems. They are currently fundraising to further develop gardening as a therapeutic activity for patients at the Cassel.
NOVEMBER 2019: The Mulberry Centre
Our aim is to provide support and information for anyone affected by cancer who lives in west and south-west London, offering practical ways of enhancing physical, psychological and emotional well-being. We support people with a cancer diagnosis, their family carers and those bereaved by cancer. We offer access to counselling, support groups, complementary therapies, wellbeing classes, informative, creative and social activities and workshops that take place each year as well as the ability to drop in for a cup of tea and a chat whenever needed. There are no hospital or postcode boundaries and clients do not need to be referred. Our services are completely free of charge and as an independent charity, The Mulberry Centre relies heavily on the generosity of the community and businesses.
OCTOBER 2019: Father Thames Trust / Thames Landscape Strategy, raised £330
"To conserve, promote and enhance for the future, one of the world’s great river landscapes between Weybridge, Hampton and Kew. " Thames Landscape Strategy are a small local charity which raise funds to support a number of conservation projects in the Ham and Petersham area as well as further afield.
SEPTEMBER 2019: The Basement Door, raised £343
We are very pleased to welcome back The Basement Door. The Basement Door provide our live music every month. Founded around musical events, its primary objectives are to provide a safe (drug and alcohol-free) space for young people to socialise while developing the skills and confidence to enter adulthood and the world of work.
AUGUST 2019: Ham & Petersham SOS, raised £230
Ham & Petersham SOS returned in August, a local care group for elderly and disabled residents of Ham & Petersham. They provide transport, weekly activities and monthly outings as well as practical assistance.
JULY 2019: Welcare, raised £171
Welcare is a charity working with families and children up to the age of 13, in South London and East Surrey.
Our services are based on Christian values, and we strive to empower families and change lives for the better, offering practical and emotional support to overcome challenges.
JUNE 2019: Home-Start Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow, raised £200
We support families within the borough with small children, who, for whatever reason are not coping; for example mothers who may be suffering from postnatal depression, loneliness, mental health issues or an inability to cope.
MAY 2019: FoLaR - Friends of Latchmere Recreation Ground, raised £211
Their Vision
"For Latchmere Recreation Ground to embody the community cohesion and spirit of North Kingston. It will be known as an attractive, well-managed and valued neighbourhood green space that has something for everyone, from open fields for general recreation to areas for quiet reflection. The pavilion will offer a sense of community, providing a focal point for a range of activities. Community Inclusion, Well-Being and Biodiversity are at the heart of what FoLaR is seeking to achieve for Latchmere Rec and the North Kingston families that it serves.
APRIL 2019: Crossway Pregnancy Crisis Centre, raised £280
Crossway Pregnancy Crisis Centre is a free and confidential service. They support women and their partners when they are facing an unintended pregnancy, or are dealing with a pregnancy loss, whether through termination, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, preterm loss or stillbirth.
MARCH 2019: The River Thames Boat Project, raised £330
The project provides access to the River Thames for people of all ages, including those with a special needs, disability or mental health conditions. They offer therapeutic cruises and deliver fun and dynamic educational and learning activities on the River Thames.
FEBRUARY 2019: Richmond Park Football Club, raised £360
Richmond Park Girls FC is one of the fastest-growing clubs in the Richmond and Kingston area. In a country that has growing problems with levels of activity, fitness and obesity among children, with girls by the age of 14 being half as active as boys, identifying and removing barriers to girls playing sport is more important now than ever before. We provide a fun way for girls to keep fit whilst making friends and learning about teamwork. To ensure we can attract as many girls to play as possible we try to keep our membership fees low and provide financial support where necessary to those unable to pay.

NOVEMBER 2018: Barnfield Stables RDA, raised £305
Based in Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey, Barnfield Riding for the Disabled Association is one of the most established & friendly local RDA groups in the country, having been founded in 1987. They are also one of the most active, with around 60 regular weekly riders and 40 volunteer helpers.
OCTOBER 2018: 1st Ham & Petersham guides & Brownies, raised £255
Their main objective was to use the stall to recruit new Guides, Brownies, and/or adult volunteers. October was a perfect month for them as all the local children had gone back to school. They also have a Trefoil section for Adult Guiders, who would also welcome new members.
SEPTEMBER 2018: The Vineyard Community Centre, raised £77
The Vineyard Community Centre, close to the heart of Richmond Upon Thames, was opened in 2012 to meet the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable in our community. They offer a number of areas of support, including a Community Café, a Foodbank, a skills and training social enterprise for those hoping to move forward from crisis, Vineyard Community and a Charity Shop selling quality fashionable clothing and providing clothing support for rough sleepers and household goods for those newly homed.
AUGUST 2018: The Basement Door, raised £214
A music venue run by, and for, young people. Founded around musical events, its primary objectives are to provide a safe (drug and alcohol-free) space for young people to socialise while developing the skills and confidence to enter adulthood and the world of work. Your donations will help to provide training and certification for young people, equipment to enhance the music evenings for young people and help in affording the hire costs of the venues we operate in.
JULY 2018: Shooting Star Chase, raised £136
In July we supported Shooting Star Chase, a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. They raised £136 to support their hospices in Guildford and Hampton.
JUNE 2018: Look Good Feel Better, raised £314
In June we supported the Kingston branch of Look Good Feel Better. This is the only international cancer support charity that helps women and teenagers manage the visible side effects of cancer treatment. They raised £314 for their work at the Macmillan Cancer Centre in Kingston Hospital.
MAY 2018: Kingston Horticultural Society
In May we supported Kingston Horticultural Society. KHS was founded over 75 years ago and brings together the local gardening community for green-thumbed advice and support. Organisations such as these do a lot to help make our local area so green and lovely!
APRIL 2018: YMCA Hawker Centre
In April we supported the YMCA Hawker Centre, our local family sports and activities hub. The YMCA is a registered charity and every penny spent here goes to provide services for vulnerable people in our local area, including shelter for the homeless and support services for young people. The YMCA were delighted to have raised £400 towards the cost of a defibrillator for their Centre
MARCH 2018: Learn English at Home
In March we supported Learn English at Home, a small local charity working in Kingston, Richmond and Hounslow to help our refugee and migrant residents to improve their English so that they can become more active in our local community. The charity raised over £500 at Ham Parade Market – and the raffle winner was Andrew from Taylor’s Fine Wine!
FEBRUARY 2018: Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts
February’s charity was Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts – one of the oldest scout troops still in existence and provider of wonderful outdoor activities for many of our local children. Despite the driving rain this month, the Scouts raised £206 for a new all-purpose Scout hut for the whole community to use. Improved facilities and access will provide facilities for children with disabilities and enable the boats to be used in all seasons.
DECEMBER 2017: Cassel Hospital
December’s charity was Ham’s Cassel Hospital which provides vital mental health services and support for adults and young people in our community. Described as a ‘lifeline’ for families, the Cassel is a one-of-a-kind NHS Centre for Excellence. The Cassel Hospital raised £778.90 in raffle ticket sales and donations from Ham Parade Market shoppers.
NOVEMBER 2017: Momentum
November’s charity was Momentum, a Kingston-based charity supporting families in Surrey and South-West London whose children have cancer or a life-limiting condition. Momentum raised £330 as our dedicated charity on 4th November.
OCTOBER 2017: Ham & Petersham SOS
October’s charity was Ham & Petersham SOS, a local care group for elderly and disabled residents of Ham & Petersham. They provide transport, weekly activities and monthly outings as well as practical assistance. They raised well over £300 at the first Ham Parade Market and importantly signed up some new volunteers too!
