Ham Parade Market returns for 2018 and we are SO happy to be back!
THIS MONTH’S STALLS
NEW: Artisan, locally roasted coffee (whole bean and ground) fromChimney Fire Coffee, hand-made jewellery from Atelier Chokerbali and Boho By The Seashore; hand-made soaps and other skincare from new business Bodhi & Ivy – gorgeous stuff that also helps you eliminate some of that plastic in your life.
February sees the launch of HAM MADE, a stall dedicated to the small-scale artists and craftspeople in our local area. So much talent lies in quiet corners of Ham and its borders and we are so excited to be creating a space to share it with the community. Painters, potters, sewers, knitters, quilters, printers and more – please come along to the HAM MADE stall (near the live music) and be prepared to part with some pounds as you discover lovely things you never knew you needed!
RETURNING: Our friendly local veg man J Webster & Son and organic Greener Greens, artisan breads from Ruben’s Bakehouse, meat from Boarstall Meats and V J Game & Sussex Smokers, cheeses from Batch Farm Cheesemakers and Nut Knowle Farm. Fish is now a permanent feature of our parade with Portland Scallop Company and Catch Fabulous Fish Cakes. And a post-market supper wouldn’t be the same without those pies from Mud Foods now would they?!
The street food hub is permanently located by Taylor’s Fine Wines now, so you can eat lunch and watch the live music which starts at midday. Greek wraps from Kuzinaki are back by popular demand, as are local start-ups Caribbean Happy Hill Kitchen and those unfathomably good ham rolls (that aren’t just ham rolls) from Ham Ham.
Other food staples returning this month are those gloriously sinful brownies from Lallapolosa Baking Company, a full kitchen of delights from Ralph Wettach, Lovely Pasta and Flavours of Sicily, jams and chutneys from local outfit Enchanted Jars, Folie Macaron and Charlotte’s Bakeaway, Thee Olive Tree, G-Nuts, and Saffin Stack‘s sell-out savoury muffins. Wash it all down with craft beer from The Park Brewery or the healthier alternative from Kitty’s Kombucha.
Anything other than food? But of course – Witts Design screen printers (and makers of our HAM BAGS) African Animal pet accessories, BeeInspired Creams, the Awesome Skincare Company and both Little Hanging Garden Company and Kingston florist Crafted Blooms will all be in their usual positions.
CHARITY OF THE MONTH
This month we’re supporting the Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts who’ll be raising money for a new Scout Hut for the whole community to use. Buy a raffle ticket and win a HAMper including dinner for two at the Canbury Arms – all proceeds to the Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts.
LIVE MUSIC AND KIDS’ ACTIVITIES
From midday in our live music tent we are kicking off what we hope will be a regular showcase of the incredible talent of young people in our area. Singers and guitarists Belle O’Hagan & Alfie Crews from the band Kal Mira also perform as a duo, and Maisie Johnson is a 17-year-old country singer/songwriter from St Margarets whose first EP ‘Sixteen’ overtook Taylor Swift on the iTunes chart! And at 1pm we are thrilled to welcome back everybody’s favourite 5 Day Weekend, who launched our market back in October last year.
Kids will have the opportunity to sort out Valentine’s Day in our Kids’ Craft area with Cornelia Costeanu and her team – learn to cross-stitch, make a beautiful card or just relax in the free Kids’ Colouring area.
PLASTIC AND OUR ENVIRONMENT
Ham Parade Market aims to become as PLASTIC FREE as possible in 2018. To that end we have asked our stallholders to phase out ALL single-use plastic in the coming months, and eventually all non-essential plastic. This will be easier for some stalls than others, but please do ask the stallholders about their packaging and encourage their efforts during this transition.
Please remember that our market is plastic bag free. Bring your own bags or buy one of our HAM BAGS on the day. (All proceeds are invested back into our community.) And remember that Ham Parade is easily accessible by foot, bike and bus, so please don’t drive unless you need to – you can see available bus routes here.
Looking forward to it!
